Lord Shiva's Seven Secrets Of Success From Shiv Shahinta
Explained By Shrii Shrii Anandamurti
Parvati asked and Shiva gave the reply. Now one of the question of Parvati was, O’lord what are the secrets of success. Many people do many things, but all are not successful in their life. What’s the secret of success? Shiva said, there are seven secrets.
I must be successful in my mission. This firm determination is the first factor out of those seven factors. And what is this firm determination?
What I’m going to do regarding this mission of life? If the logician and philosophers condemn me, say, that he is a very bad man- let them say like this. Or, due to my mission, due to my movement towards my goal, if certain portion of the society appreciate my action, let them appreciate.
I won’t be assailed by such appreciations. And due to my action if Laxami (the mythological goddess of riches) comes and resides in my house, it is good. If Laxmi says no, I will quit you forever, I won’t remain with you, that is, you will have to suffer from poverty, let Laxmi quit my house. And due to my course of action, due to my ideology, if Pluto, the god of death comes and say I’ll take you, let Pluto do it. I don’t care a fig for it. Or duo to my course of action, my ideology if I’m forced to live here for indefinite period, I am ready to live here.
You know, the life becomes bored if one lives for a long period. But I am ready to undergo that boredom, that monotony for the sake of m ideology.
I know that amongst human beings there are 3 categories.
The third category- they won’t undertake any responsibility for fear of being defeated.
And second category- they undertake the duty and responsibility but when they face the reactions, the enemy forces come forward and harass them, they drop the work.
And the first category, that is the best category- they say that once I have undertaken the duty, I will do it. I will get the work fully complied with before that I won’t take any rest. So this is the firm determination. It is the first requisite factor as the Lord Shiva said.
Second, a man must have Shraddha (faith/belief) for his ideology. Shraddha is a very old vedic term. Shraddha means- ‘Shrat’ means, recognized status of veracity. And ‘dha’ means movements towards it. That is when ideological goal has been accepted and all my mights and all my propensities should move unto that goal. It is Shraddha.
Third, I must have reverence for the ‘Guru’. What is Guru? ‘Gu’ means the darkness that is darkness in psycho-spiritual sphere and ‘Ru’ means dispelling agent, that is, he who dispels darkness from my psychic and spiritual body- is ‘Gu-ru’.
And the fourth requisite fact is that you must maintain a mental equilibrium, rather equipoise. That is you must not suffer from any complex. Inferiority complex or superiority complex or defeatist complex, or complex of hopelessness- despair. That is your mind should be, should always be in a balanced condition.
Fifth is you must have self-restraint. Without self-restraint, nothing concrete can be done.
And the sixth is Pramit Aahar, that is, balanced diet. You must not take less, you must not take more, it should be substantial and it should be good for your body, mind and spirit. Meat and other animal products may be good for body, but not good for mind and spirit. So yours should be a careful selection of food.
And the seventh; Lord Shiva says, there is no seventh factor.
You should remember these seven factors. These are the secrets of success.
1. Firm Determination towards your goal
2. Remaining unaffected by the society
3. Having respect for the Guru
4. Self-restraint
5. Sincerity towards work and relentlessness
6. Have a balanced diet
7. Seventh secret is following the six above.
